Welcome
I hope the Jewish Sages of Today project—the book, the website, the Teacher’s Guide—inspires you. That’s why I undertook this project. There are people all around us doing incredible work, but many of them go unnoticed. It is my belief that in bringing to the world’s notice the efforts and accomplishments of the amazing individuals profiled in Jewish Sages of Today, people will be inspired. And it is my hope that, once inspired, people—like you—will take action. What kind of action? Action to make our world a better place. A better place to be Jewish and, by extension, a better place for all people.
It’s that simple. And that complicated. And in the end, it’s up to you. Please enjoy these resources. Explore this very comprehensive website. Learn from the sages. Delve into the many examples of their work and admire their values and perseverance. Whether you’re a teacher or not, please look through the imaginative Teacher’s Guide, created by Rabbi Alan Zelenetz, which is a work of art in itself. Challenge yourself by taking on some of the provocative questions he poses in relation to each sage. Please share these resources and your thoughts with your friends, your family, your students.
And then, think about what you can do to make the world a better place. That is my challenge to you.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Aryeh Rubin
